5 Mondays left til spring!!

Writer: Benton End Flower FarmBenton End Flower Farm

Well well well, wouldn’t you know, just 5 Mondays left until spring. And I am excited 😊

I’ve even noticed the birds chirping more lately too, with their spring song 🎶 echoing through the trees here on the flower farm.

To say I’m excited we’ve made it this far is an understatement, tbh it’s been a long winter, cold, very very muddy, but it’s given me a time of reflection, which as a flower farmer is important. Why? You may ask, well, we are normally soooo busy during the season that we forget the importance of that good old saying, can you guess?

‘Stop and smell the flowers’ 🌻🌺🌸🌼🌹

Yes, I’ve learned it’s true, sometimes we are all so busy, what with busy lives, work, kids, family, before we know it those fleeting blooms have come and gone all too quickly, we miss moments that are so precious.

So my reflection has been… as exciting as spring is, to try and slow down ( not easy) and savour the cold mornings, the twinkle of frost on the blades of grass, but most importantly those new red peony shoots just poking from the frozen ground full of hope for May time and trust me, I WILL be stopping everything to savour in those glorious peony flowers when they bloom!

I mean who doesn’t love a peony?

Anyway, things can’t quite stop here completely, there are plenty of jobs to still do, I’ve still got 8 and a half 150ft beds to lay landscape fabric down to prevent rabbits destroying my lavender plants, yes those pesky bunnies 🐰 are still trying to destroy the lavender field 🙄

The flower beds all need some fresh compost, along with trimming some perennials and general tidy all around the farm! And at this time of year we definitely need those wellies.

Oooh spring do hurry 🙏

Well, that’s it for this week on the flower farm

Speak soon flower friend 🥰
